Outdoor Sound and Security Cameras for a Wellness Retreat Near Ottawa
A wellness retreat outside Ottawa asked us for two things at once: music and announcements outside on its new pergola, and a camera system to keep an eye on the grounds. We handled both in one job, so the wiring was planned once and the owners have one contractor to call.
Outdoor speakers on the pergola
The pergola runs the full length of the building, so we spaced the speakers along the beams for even coverage from one end to the other: no loud spot by the doors and no dead zone at the far end. Mounting under the beams keeps the speakers out of direct rain and snow, and we ran the speaker cable while the building was still being finished, so nothing is stapled to the outside of the posts.
A Soundcraft mixer in the studio
Everything is controlled from one spot inside: a Soundcraft mixer feeding a power amplifier, with a handheld microphone for classes and announcements. Staff can play background music, bring up the mic when they need to speak, and keep the outdoor level where it adds atmosphere without drowning out conversation on the patio.
Cameras and lighting around the property
A rural property has a lot of ground to cover and very little light after dark. We mounted the cameras under the eaves, out of the weather, and paired them with a floodlight so the walkways and parking area stay clear on the recording at night. The owners can check the cameras live from their phones and review footage from anywhere.

Yes, if they’re rated for outdoor use and mounted under cover. Speakers tucked under pergola beams or eaves handle snow and freeze-thaw cycles far better than ones left fully exposed.
